Leonard Fife refused to participate in the Vietnam War and fled to Canada, where he became an acclaimed documentarian. Now, affected by terminal cancer, he agrees to be interviewed by a team of his former students. Emma, his wife, is present throughout the process to protect his legacy. As Fife delves into the past, the palliative treatments cloud his memories, and the story fractures. The documentarian becomes the documented in a film structured as a puzzle, a montage of reminiscences where the audience is constantly unsure of what is being shown.
